Recently crowned Miss Georgia, Alyssa Beasley who grew up on Blythe Island was given the Key to the city by Mayor Cornell Harvey on Saturday during a City Hall reception in her honor. Glynn County Commission chairman Bill Brunson also presented Ms. Beasley with a proclamation from the county. Beasley, who is headed to the Miss American pageant this fall spoke briefly about her platform of supporting arts in education - #RiseUp: Impact Through the Arts, a scholarship program that provides dance opportunities to disadvantaged and disabled children.
