New Evacuation Route to Become Economic Corridor

Construction has started on a new hurricane evacuation route from Kingsland to Folkston that will also serve as a new economic corridor in Camden County. County officials said the construction costs alone are an estimated $90 million. Work on the first phase, expected for completion in three years, includes widening a 5.9-mile stretch of Laurel Island Parkway to four lanes with a raised median and turnaround lanes from Kings Bay Road to just west of Interstate 95.Camden
