Cap Fendig Announces 2020 Commission Run

Today former At-large Commissioner Cap Fendig announced his candidacy for the Disctrict 2 County Commission podt\\st currently held by Dr. Peter Murphy. He released the following announcement this morning:

Cap Fendig, a life-long resident of St. Simons Island and former At-Large Commissioner for Glynn County, from 2000 to 2008, has announced his intent to run for Islands Commissioner (District 2) in the upcoming 2020 election. This position serves St. Simons Island, Sea Island, Little St. Simons Island and Jekyll Island, GA. Fendig believes the main issue he will be facing is preserving the character and quality of life on St. Simons and the Golden Isles for present and future generations to come.

“Over the past year, numerous people have called and expressed concerns over traffic, infrastructure needs, and encroaching developments. We need a vision for the future, one that truly encompasses the heart of our people and one which can be implemented.”

Having served 8 years as an At-Large Commissioner, Fendig understands the needs of the whole community. Fendig would look forward to working cooperatively with the rest of the Commissioners and community partners to address the various needs of Glynn County.

“I believe I have the experience, the community relationships, and the temperament to work for the people as one of their elected officials, who can represent their voice.” Fendig is making this early announcement of his plans to run in the next election to put together the people’s agenda ahead of taking office if elected.

Fendig is married to Catherine Fendig, they have two daughters and three grandchildren. They own and operate Lighthouse Trolleys and Dolphin Tours, a land and sea tour company with a fleet of trolleys, buses, and boats. A website and Facebook page will be set up shortly so citizens can immediately start providing feedback and concerns. Also, Fendig will conduct a series of town hall listening meetings in preparation for assembling an agenda
