Savannah/Hilton Head airport sees winter weather cancellations

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) - The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is seeing cancellations due to the winter weather storm impacts that are expected in the area.

As of noon Tuesday, the airport has canceled 8% of their outbound flights (7). They have also already canceled 18% of inbound flights (16 planes).

For Wednesday, the airport has already canceled 22% of their outbound flights (11 in total).

Atlanta has canceled only three outbound planes. Atlanta has 2% of inbound planes canceled (28) and five planes delayed.

There is only one airport with more canceled planes right now — Houston's airport.

Officials say flights could resume tomorrow if weather permits. At this time the airport does not have equipment for winter weather for runways in Savannah.
