Hospitals, health centers announce winter weather closures

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Due to expected winter weather and precipitation, some local hospitals and health departments have announced closures.

Beaufort Memorial

Beaufort Memorial's hospital and emergency room remain open but officials have announced some closures.

Beaufort Memorial physician practices will be closed on Wednesday.

All three Express Care & Occupational Health clinics will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday.

Outpatient departments will be closed on Wednesday, including outpatient laboratory services.

Elective surgeries planned for Wednesday at the hospital and the Beaufort Memorial Surgery Center have been rescheduled.

Radiation therapy, chemotherapy and infusion services will continue as planned on Tuesday. Appointments for Wednesday have been rescheduled.

Patient Financial Services (Billing) and Medical Records will be closed on Wednesday.

LifeFit Wellness Center will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday and will be closed on Wednesday.

Visiting hours will be suspended from 5 p.m. on Tuesday through noon on Wednesday. Entry into the hospital during that time will only be through the emergency room entrance.

The hospital’s telehealth service, BMH Care Anywhere, remains available 24 hours a day to anyone with internet access.

Coastal Health District

All operations in the Coastal Health District will be suspended at noon on Tuesday and remain suspended all day on Wednesday. Officials anticipate a delayed opening on Thursday at 11 a.m.

This includes all health department clinics and offices in Bryan, Camden, Chatham, Effingham, Glynn, Liberty, Long and McIntosh counties.

Anyone with an appointment previously scheduled during the closure will be contacted to

reschedule.

As with any weather emergency, these plans may change if conditions worsen or linger, officials said. Updates to these closures will be reported promptly.

Memorial Health

Hospital outpatient services and Memorial Health University Physicians practices will be closed on Wednesday.

Both will reopen on Thursday at 10 a.m.

All elective surgeries will continue as scheduled.

Optim Health System

Due to impending severe weather, Optim Health System—which includes Optim Health System clinics, Optim Medical Center–Tattnall, Optim Medical Center–Screven, and Optim Surgery Center—has announced the following changes to its normal operations:

  • Wednesday: All clinics will be closed; scheduled surgeries will be rescheduled.
  • Thursday: A decision regarding any additional closures or delays will be announced on the system's website and social channels by 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

Patients impacted by these changes do not need to take any action, officials said. Optim representatives will contact them directly to reschedule their appointments or surgeries.

Patients of Optim Orthopedics should also check here for any changes to their clinic schedules.

SouthCoast Health

All SouthCoast Health offices will be closed on Wednesday, January 22.

Patients with appointments scheduled on that day will be contacted and rescheduled as virtual visits or to another day

St. Joseph's/Candler

St. Joseph’s Hospital and Candler Hospital remain business as usual.

  • Surgeries and GI procedures at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Candler Hospital and Pooler Campus will have a delayed start on Wednesday morning.  Patients will be contacted about their individual arrival times for Wednesday.
  • Imaging procedures at St. Joseph’s Hospital,  Candler Hospital, Pooler Campus and other outpatient locations will have a delayed start on Wednesday.  Patients will be contacted if their scheduled appointment needs to be adjusted. There is one exception. The Bluffton Outpatient Imaging Center will be closed on Wednesday.
  • Cath procedures at St. Joseph’s Hospital will have a delayed start on Wednesday morning, Patients will be contacted about their individual arrival times for Wednesday.

All SJ/C Physician Network practices will be closed on Wednesday. Offices will resume normal operating hours on Thursday.

All SJ/C Urgent Care locations in Georgia and South Carolina will close at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Hours for Wednesday are still TBD.

Lab Patient Service Centers (for lab draws) will be closed Wednesday with the exception of the Pooler Campus and Professional Office Building at Candler Hospital. Those two locations will have a delayed start of 9am.  All locations will be open at normal business hours on Thursday.

The Wellness Center, Co-Worker Clinic, Cardiac Rehab and Diabetes Management will be closed Wednesday and a delayed opening at 10 a.m. on Thursday.

The Good Samaritan Clinic in Garden City will be closed on Wednesday.

The Children's House will be closed Wednesday.

Nancy N. and J.C. Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion

  • Radiation Oncology – All locations closed Wednesday | Late Start Thursday at 10 am

Medical Oncology

  • Summit Cancer Care -  Savannah, Pembroke and Statesboro locations closed Wednesday | Late Start Thursday at 10 am
  • South Carolina Cancer Specialists – Bluffton and Hilton Head locations closed Wednesday | Late Start Thursday at 10 am
  • Hinesville – Liberty Regional - Closed Wednesday | Late Start Thursday at 10 am
  • Jesup – Wayne Memorial Hospital – Open Wednesday with late start at 10 am | Thursday normal business operations

Advanced Thoracic Oncology Center

  • New River – Virtual only visits on Wednesday
  • Savannah –  Late Start Thursday at 10 am
  • Telfair Pavilion, Mobile Mammography, Pelvic Floor Center - Closed Wednesday | Late Start Thursday at 10 am
