A Facebook post attributed to a man with the same name as the owner of the address the bomb squad was called to yesterday explains yesterday afternoon’s incident.
In the post the man explains that a friend of his recently passed away and that he was asked by the man’s widow to handle the items in his “man cave.” THe man says he brought the contents of his friend’s garage to his house and began sorting through them. When he found an unopened box, he opened them and found them to be full of hand grenades. Upon finding the explosives the man called police, who sent the bomb squad and detonated one of the grenades, taking possession of the rest.
It is unknown why the man’s late friend, a former employee of the Bureau of Prisons, had a box of unexploded grenades in his garage.
