Two Arrested in Academy Sports Burglary

From GCPD:

On Monday, January 17, 2022 at about 1:30 AM, Glynn County Police Patrol Officer Kanago was checking businesses in the Canal Crossing shopping complex. He observed a small SUV vehicle backed into the loading dock area of Academy Sports near the bay doors and box trailers. Officer Kanago saw one suspect break the plane of the trailer compartment and the store gaining access to the trailer. He activated his patrol vehicle emergency equipment and the suspects were detained without incident.

After detaining three suspects and a waiver of Miranda, suspect 1 admitted to entering the trailer and removing items from the trailer. Suspect 2 admitted to having items from the trailer dropped to her and loading them into their vehicle. Preliminary statements made by the suspects allege they were having financial problems and were committing the burglary/theft for personal gain. The third person in the vehicle was released without charges.
