2 injured after early morning crash on Altama Avenue and Community Road

Georgia State troopers report that 36-year-old Jeffrey Alan Chockley of Brunswick was intoxicated when he ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle shortly before midnight Monday at the intersection of Altama Avenue and Community Road.

Two passengers in the other vehicle were injured. The injured 41 year old man was flown to UF Health hospital in Jacksonville after first being taken to the Southeast Georgia Heath System’s Brunswick hospital. The 32 year old woman was taken to the Brunswick hospital although none of their injuries were life threatening.

Chockley was driving south on Altama Avenue in a Dodge pickup truck, and the other vehicle, a Ford Explorer, was heading east on Community Road when he crashed into them after running the red light. Chockley has been arrested and charged with DUI, running a red light and not wearing a seatbelt. According to Glynn County Detention Center records he was still in jail on Wednesday. Nearby store surveillance video was used to confirm the events.
