L Street is now open for the first time since April 1, 2019. According to City Engineer Garrow Alberson, the L St. construction contractor finished up the road project and picked up the barricades over weekend opening the street for the first time since last spring.
The major project, that ran 9 blocks from MLK Blvd. east to Cook St. at the entrance to Pinova, included a new storm drainage system and new water lines that were installed by the Joint Water and Sewer Commission, along with the repaving. While L St. is currently open to traffic, there will be an official re-opening ceremony at 11:00am Friday morning when city officials and business owners will celebrate the project’s completion.
