Fatal crash on Ocean Boulevard leaving one killed, two injured

The Georgia State Patrol reports a fatal crash on St. Simon's Island Wednesday night. A vehicle swerved off of Ocean Boulevard striking a fire hydrant and crash landing into a retention pond. The 20-year-old driver was killed and two of three young passengers were injured.

The driver has been identified as 20-year-old Charles Albert Connor-Bischof of St. Simons Island. Connor-Bischof died at the scene. One of the passengers, a 19-year-old St. Simons Island woman, was flown by helicopter to a hospital in Jacksonville while the other passenger, an 18-year-old Brunswick woman, was taken by ambulance to Southeast Georgia Health System's hospital. The third passenger, a 22-year-old Brunswick man, was not injured in the accident.

Georgia State Patrol says, the vehicle swerved and crashed as a result of overcorrecting. Connor-Bischof was driving east on Ocean Boulevard at around 9:50 p.m. when the vehicle swerved off the left side of the roadway. The driver then tried to overcorrect and went off the right side of the road, hitting a fire hydrant.
