Confederate memorial in downtown Brunswick defaced

Over the weekend, a confederate memorial in downtown Brunswick's Hanover Square was defaced.

The monument was spray painted with the initials "BLM" on it.

According to an article posted by The Brunswick News, Mayor Cornell Harvey spoke of his disappointment of the vandalism and said city officials have been called to clean the monument.

Mayor Harvey also said those convicted of vandalizing city property like the confederate monument, will face a fine.
