NBA power forward Marcus Morris Sr. was arrested on a fraud charge in Florida Sunday (July 27), TMZ Sports initially reported.
Morris, 35, was arrested at a Broward County airport on a felony charge of Fraud- Writing a Check with Insufficient Funds related to a case in another state and is being held without bond, according to online records obtained by the New York Post. Additional details regarding the charge weren't immediately made available, however, a post shared on Morris' X account downplayed how serious the situation was.
"The wording is crazy. Damn for that amount of money they’ll embarrass you in the airport with your family. They got y’all really thinking bro did some fraud shit. They could have came to the crib for all that. When y’all hear the real story on this s**t man. All I can say is Lesson learned. Bro will tell y’all tomorrow. This weird s**t gave me a headache. Can’t stop nothin!" the post states.
Morris had previously entered a diversion program following a battery charge in 2012 and was found not guilty of assault in relation to a basketball brawl in 2015. The former University of Kansas standout played for eight NBA teams between 2011 and 2024, averaging 12 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 832 career games.
