President Donald Trump and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have signed a series of agreements in Riyadh aimed at strengthening economic and law enforcement partnerships between the United States and Saudi Arabia. The agreements, signed on Tuesday (May 13), cover sectors such as energy, mining, and defense.
The economic partnership includes a substantial $600 billion investment commitment from Saudi Arabia to the United States, featuring a nearly $142 billion defense sales agreement that will provide Saudi Arabia with advanced equipment and services from U.S. firms. Additionally, the agreement involves exports of GE gas turbines and energy solutions worth $14.2 billion and Boeing 737-8 passenger aircraft totaling $4.8 billion.
The agreements also include cooperation in law enforcement, with plans for collaboration between the FBI and Saudi Arabia's Ministry of the Interior.
During the signing ceremony, President Trump emphasized the strong relationship between the two nations, stating, "I really believe we like each other a lot."
The deals come as part of a broader initiative to enhance economic ties and strategic partnerships in the Gulf region. President Trump is also scheduled to visit Qatar and the United Arab Emirates following his stop in Saudi Arabia.
The agreements are expected to foster significant business opportunities and job creation in both countries, with a focus on expanding investments in frontier technologies and other sectors under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 reform program.
