Glynn Names Police Chief Finalist

Glynn County Ga.,Following the vetting procedure by the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) and the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), the Glynn County Board of Commissioners interviewed multiple qualified candidates and have narrowed the search for the role of Glynn County Chief of Police to a sole finalist, Jacques Battiste.

Mr. Battiste retired as a Special Agent from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after 22-years working from Washington D.C. specializing in counter-terrorism in the U.S and abroad, special events security, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and hazardous devise response. After leaving the FBI, he served as Chief of Police for Xavier University of Louisiana and is currently serving as a Deputy Constable and Training and Tactical Coordinator for the Orleans Constables Office in New Orleans. Mr. Battiste has obtained Bachelors of Science in Chemistry and Political Science from the Xavier University of Louisiana and a Juris Doctorate from Southern University and A&M College.

The Board of Commissioners selected Mr. Battiste as the finalist based on his vast experience in law enforcement and management. He is currently a member of multiple modern law enforcement associations including the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) which provided a management and operations study that has laid a blueprint for regaining certification and served as FBI representative to the White House Task Force on 21st Century Policing, a major tenet of modern policing.

Prior to the Board of Commissioners making a final selection, Mr. Battiste will be available during a public session following an executive session interview with the combined Glynn County Police Advisory Panel and Glynn County Board of Commissioners.
