From GCPD:
On 10/28/20 at 5:30 PM, officers responded to 431 Buckingham Place in reference to a stolen white and brown 2011 Ford F350. The complainant stated that he pulled up to the residence and briefly got out of the vehicle to "check on the kids". He then stated a young black male jumped into his truck which was attached to a white enclosed trailer and left with the vehicle. The male was described as a young dark skinned black male approximately 5'04" with a slim build approximately 125 pounds wearing tan shorts sandals and a black ball cap.
Approximately two hours later, the victim called police stating he was following his stolen vehicle in the Beverly Shores area. Sergeant Kapeller spotted the vehicle on Stafford Avenue traveling at a high rate of speed. He activated his emergency equipment and began to pursue the vehicle, which was failing to pull over. The vehicle turned south on Altama, then left on Buckingham, right on Carteret Road, then left on Emanuel Farm Rd. Speeds were 70MPH at the time. Vehicle turned right (south) on 17 and speeds went up to 85-90MPH. GSP and Brunswick PD were notified. Sergeant Kapeller terminated his pursuit after there was an elevated risk to the public due to traffic congestion. After he deactivated his emergency equipment, the suspect vehicle turned onto Hopkins Avenue and struck a vehicle. Sergeant Kapeller stayed with the victims of the vehicle collision and requested EMS due to injuries. The suspect vehicle kept going. A short time later, a witness approached Sergeant Kapeller saying he saw a white truck on Player Street that was smoking. Upon officers arriving, the vehicle was unoccupied and abandoned. A suspect has not been identified at this time.
