Dennis Perry is a free man. Jailed since 2000 for the murders of Harold and Thelma Swain, Perry was granted bond today by Judge Stephen Scarlett. The granting of bond comes int eh wake of the overturning of Perryâs conviction on charges that he murdered the Swains in 1985.
DNA evidence, as well as a pair of prescription glasses, found at the scene have pointed the finger at one-time suspectErik Sparre. The DNA that implicated Sparre was contributed by Sparreâs mother, who was found dead shortly after the conviction was overturned.Sparre maintains his innocence.
Perry is still charged with murder, as only his conviction has been overturned. It remains to be seen whether the DAâs office, which fought to maintain Perryâs conviction, will continue to pursue the charges.
