Code Yelow Causes Scare at Risley

A Code Yellow issued at Risley Middle today caused a stir amongst students and parents alike. Students who were unsure of the full status of the alert texted their parents concerned that there was a Code Red full lockdown, which in turn concerned parents. The Code Yellow was an alert that calls for students to shelter in place. It was issued in conjunction with an inspection by a drug dog. There was no danger to the students at any point.

Update. Statement by GCS Police Chief Rod Ellis:

All,

Risley Middle School is NOT…I repeat NOT in a Code RED situation.

There is, however, a planned K9 inspection taking place at the school, which placed the school in a code Yellow, which is designed to limit movement in the schools. Some students are sending inaccurate texts that they are in a Code Red lockdown.
