From the Islander:
The Mainland Planning Commission meets tomorrow at 6 p.m. in the historic courthouse. The agenda includes six rezoning applications. Four rezoning requests apply to two separate parcels both involving the County’s Comprehensive Plan’s Future Land Use Map and both located on Highway 82. The first request concerns a 16 acre parcel owned by P.E. Drawdy, Jr. and Margaret F. Snow located at 3600 Highway 82. One request is to amend the County’s Comprehensive Plan’s Future Land Use Map from low density residential to commercial. The second request is to rezone the property from Forest Agricultural and Local Commercial to Highway Commercial in order to establish a heavy equipment retail and service business on the property. The second parcel is 20 acres located at 3484 Highway 82 owned by Marvin Powers. In this case the applicant has requested a deferral to date uncertain. However the two rezoning requests are the same: to amend the Future Land Use Map from low density residential to commercial and then to rezone the property from Planned Development to Highway Commercial.
