A threat against the campus of Risley Middle earlier today has been deemed non-credible by administrators. The following note was sent to Risley parents today:
"In an effort to be totally transparent and keep our parents informed, I want to make you aware that earlier this morning, our administration learned that a student had sent an anonymous message using Snapchat to threaten violence on our campus. The message stated that there would be a school shooting at 11 a.m. Friday, May 17. Immediate action has been taken to assess the threat and to start an investigation into the matter. Our initial threat assessment has determined that this in NOT a credible threat.
We will continue to investigate this incident until we’re able to apprehend the person(s) responsible and proceed with appropriate disciplinary action. To preserve the safety and well-being of our students and staff, we will have additional law enforcement on our campus and will implement necessary countermeasures should we need them.
The consequences of making threats in a school setting are severe and the individual responsible will be held accountable. Thank you for all that you do to support our students and our school. "
