Elections Board Changes Bylaws

The Glynn County Board of Elections voted to change its bylaws Tuesday to allow all members to have more input in evaluating the elections and registration supervisor. If county attorneys approve the move, the chair of the board will file a single annual performance evaluation of the supervisor with optional input from other members. Board member Sandy Dean proposed an amendment to the board’s bylaws that will make participation by the entire board mandatory. It was approved 5-0. In addition Patty Gibson was elected chairwoman of the board for the upcoming year, Dean was elected vice chairwoman and Keith Rustin was elected secretary. Early voting for the May 22 primary is still ongoing until May 18th. County residents can vote on the second floor of the Office Park building at 1815 Gloucester St. in Brunswick or at the Fire Station # 2, the Demere Annex at 1929 Demere Rd. on St. Simons. Voters can also request ballots by mail until May 18. For more information, call the board of elections at 912-554-7060.
