Glynn Middle School’s symphonic band recently received the “Grand Champion” ranking at the Southern Star Music Festival at Six Flags in Atlanta. The band also received all “Gold” ratings at the festival, which is the highest ranking a band can receive from the panel of judges. Ratings include gold, silver bronze and blue. The gold means each of three judges gave the Glynn MIddle Band 90 points or higher out of 100. In addition, the band also received straight “Superior” ratings at the Georgia Music Educators Association large group performance evaluations in Jesup in both performance and sight reading. The band will wrap up its semester with a spring concert on May 8 at 7 p.m. in the gym. The event, which is free and open to the public, will feature music inspired by the ancient Greeks and Romans.
