Update on Eagle's Pointe Shooting; Police Confirm it was Accidental

UPDATED RELEASE REGARDING SHOOTING DEATH AT APARTMENT COMPLEX

On Sunday, March 25, 2018 at just before 5:00 PM, officers with the Glynn County Police Department responded to Eagles Pointe Apartments off Crispen Blvd in reference to a reported shooting. Officers and emergency medical personnel arrived to find 17-year-old Glynn County resident Xantavian Pierce inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to his abdomen. He was transported via ambulance to the Southeast Georgia Health System –Brunswick Campus in critical condition. Mr. Pierce succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.An autopsy will be conducted at the Georgia Bureau of Investigations Crime Lab inSavannah. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Mr. Pierce’s family and friends who are grieving over their loss. This is a tragic incident, which based on the investigation thus far appears to be accidental. There is no evidence to support a connection between Mr. Pierce’s death and the shooting on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at a carnival in the parking lot of the Colonial Mall at Glynn Place.
