Rep. Jeff Jones dropped House Bill 880 last week which would provide for solid waste management and safe disposal of coal ash in municipal and commercial solid waste landfills.State Representatives Allen Peake, Todd Jones, and Spencer Frye have authored House Bill 98 that would create a $2,500 tax credit for owners of electric vehicles. The prior $5,000 tax credit for electric car purchases was canceled in 2015. The bill has not been dropped yet but currently sits in the House Ways and Means Committee which is chaired by Jay Powell. Peake and Jones are Republicans and Frye is a Democrat.Another bill which has been introduced, HB 762, mandates annual education on awareness and prevention of sexual abuse and assault for public school students in kindergarten through their freshman year of high school. Rep. Wes Cantrell, Republican, is the sponsor.
