After years of contracting out beach concessions in the parking lots at the Coast Guard Station and Massengale beach parks, last summer was the first time Glynn County allowed a beach vendor to sell products on the beach itself. Sunset Slush company, the Coast Guard Station vendor, was allowed to sell projects from a push cart on the beach on a trial basis. The trial went well and yesterday the county finance committee recommended awarding the contract for the Coast Guard beach to Sunset Slush again for this summer. In addition, the committee asked staff to develop a proposal to allow a vendor to sell on the beach at Massengale Park. That proposal will come to the full commission next week.
