Last month Island Planning Commission member Patrick Duncan was elected to chair the commission for 2018 replacing former chairwoman Desiree Watson. Speaking to The Islander last week Duncan said he has some changes planned for the IPC this year. One is hold commission work sessions prior to their regular meetings in order to be better prepared. He is also interested in increasing public awareness of the planning commission’s responsibilities regarding what they can and cannot do. While no date has been set, Duncan hopes to hold the first work session next month prior to their February 20th meeting.
