The Brunswick City Commission will move forward with the pre-application for FEMA’s Hazard Mitigation Grant / Buyback Program. This particular FEMA program is completely voluntary and mitigates properties prone to flooding by actually buying back the property. One house on Rosewood Avenue has been determined suitable for the buyout program. In the College Park neighborhood there are many houses that flood and the city’s engineers are still determining which homes would be best suited for a buy-out program in College Park. Once a property has been purchased through the program, the home is demolished and the land becomes public property, designated n as open space.
