The Glynn County Board of Elections decided at their last meeting to proceed with a plan to scan voter registration cards into a digital database and discontinue the warranties on their electronic voting machines. Because the voting machines are getting older and the Secretary of State has not indicated any plans to replace them anytime soon, the board decided to let their warranties expire, and instead focus on improving maintenance and purchasing backups. Elections and Registration Supervisor Monica Couch said half of the counties she contacted said they do not have warranties on their voting machines.
