Environmental Group Wants Coals Ash Dealt With

The Southern Environmental Law Center thinks Georgia Power is doing a good job cleaning up 550,000 tons of coal ash from a dump site at a former coal-fired plant sitting in an estuary west of Brunswick near Plant McManus. Now the law firm wants Georgia Power to clean up all its coal ash sites across Georgia. The Power company had stored coal ash in Brunswick in an unlined pit. They are now proposing to remove the coal ash from ponds at some of its other sites around the state, de-water it and store it on site.
