Finance Committee Defers Action on Driggers Sidewalk

The County Finance Committee deferred action yesterday on a $179,000 professional services contract with EMC Engineering for the Preliminary Engineering for Phase 2 of the Harry Driggers Boulevard sidewalk. Their attorney said his office wanted to double check how the vendor was chosen. The committee did recommend awarding EMC a $24,000 contract to develop a concept plan for widening Canal Rd. EMC is currently working with the Joint Water and Sewer Commission to extend the water and sewer infrastructure on Canal Rd. that was installed as part of the recent Canal Road Intersection Improvement. By  having  EMC  prepare the overall concept plan for road, drainage, and utilities, the construction design should be well coordinated.
