The Joint Water and Sewer Commission is considering an $89 million bond issue and heard a report from an independent, bond financial advisor during their meeting yesterday. A final decision on the bonds has yet to be made, but if they decide to move forward the break down will be: $62 million for upgrades at the Academy Creek Wastewater Treatment plant in Brunswick, $6 million for upgrades at the Dunbar Creek Treatment plant on St. Simons, and $21 million to finish up their current SPLOST projects. The JWSC originally asked for about $30 million in SPLOST funds, but only received $15 million.
