Six Year Old Brings Gun to GIES

Yesterday a six year old Golden Isles Elementary student brought a .25 caliber pistol to school. School Police Chief Rod Ellis said several children saw the student with the gun and alerted adults. The gun was taken away and determined by the Golden Isles Elementary SRO to be real. Fortunately there was no magazine in the gun and no other ammunition with the gun. According to school system staff, bringing a gun to school can result in suspension of up to 45 days, however the incident is still under investigation and punishment is unknown at this time.
