Doering Joins School Police

The Glynn County Schools police department has filled one of two vacancies on the force with retired Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering. Doering will start at the top of the system’s pay scale because of his years of experience. With overtime, Doering should earn an estimated $40,000 a year. School Chief Rod Ellis said it might be unusual, but it’s not the first time a high ranking retired officer has worked for the school police. According to Ellis a former U.S. Marshall, a former sheriff, and a former FLETC instructor have worked for his department. No start date other than after Labor Day was given.
