Scott McQuade, president of the Golden Isles Convention and Visitors Bureau, expected a healthy tourist turnout for July 4th but admitted that a mid-week holiday can make an impact on tourism. Even with the 4th falling on Tuesday this year many area hotels and motels were full of reservations. However reports from the CVB showed this year lagging about 7% behind last year’s record setting July 4th when the holiday fell on Monday.
