State Health Benefit Plan Looks to Weed Out Abuse

By removing ineligible family members from the State Health Benefit Plan the state is hoping to save nearly $56 million a year. The state Dept. of Community Health which administers the state health benefit plan for teachers, state employees, retirees and their dependents, is auditing the plan to determine if ineligible people are receiving government-subsidized medical coverage.
