After contracting with Ecological Planning Group last Thursday night to update to their Comprehensive Plan the county commission met with the consultants for the first time yesterday. The commission agreed to move ahead with the creation of two steering committees, one for the mainland, one for the islands, to help gather input and work on the plan. According to the proposal, each steering committee with consist of 17 people - three from the planning commissions, 7 appointed by the county commissioners and 7 chosen by blind application that do not include the applicants’ names in order to get a cross section of the community.
