Brantley Moves to Stop Landfill

The Brantley County Commission unanimously voted Thursday to rezone a 2,300-acre tract, with the intent to stop a controversial proposed landfill from coming to the site. A public hearing, which lasted over three hours, was held to discuss six changes to local zoning ordinances designed to stop a landfill. Claiming the proposed ordinance was unconstitutional, an attorney for Brantley County Development Partners said the company spent more than $3 million the past three years and had a “vested interest” in the project.
