Wastewater Spill on New Sea Island Road

The Joint Water and Sewer Commission announced a wastewater spill at Gascoigne Lodge on the New Sea Island Rd. about 10:00 Friday morning. The approximately 10,000 gallon spill into Gascoigne Pond was reportedly caused by an electrical equipment failure at pumping station 2023 on Kings Way. The electrical equipment was repaired, lime was spread on the affected area of pond bank, which was about six square feet, and two bypass pumps were used in the pond to aerate the affected waters. The JWSC laboratory will continue to test the area. The Dept. of Natural Resources and the Glynn County Public Health Dept. were notified of the spill.
