Jekyll Brush Fire Fight Has Unlikely Ally

The May 2 brush fire which burned about 5 acres on Jekyll Island was contained with the help of many firefighting units including the Georgia State Patrol. The GSP just happened to be fire training in the area using their helicopter. They came to the rescue with their 210 gallon buckets and, according to the Jekyll Island Authority, their actions helped contain the fire much faster than ground units would have been able to. All Jekyll fireworks permits have been rescinded as the Authority continues to watch the area. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
