As of yesterday the Glynn County Fire Marshal has issued a burn ban on all open burning in Glynn County. The ban also includes fireworks. Fire departments use a ‘Drought Index’ that goes from 0, which is when the soil is completely saturated to 800 which is ‘desert dry.’ Right now Glynn’s index is at 438. Fire Chief Randy Jordan said the ban would not be lifted until the index is under 400, which could take three or four good rain storms.
