Meeting for the second time to discuss their budget yesterday, the county commission heard from Tax Commissioner Jeff Chapman on why he needs two new full time and two new part time employees. The county budget team has recommended one new full timer for the tax office. In addition, Commissioner Allen Booker asked to hire an executive director for the African American Historic Preservation Commission. The cost, which would be split with the city, is about $28,000. More discussion and possible decisions are expected during next week’s work session.
