During a joint meeting yesterday, both the Mainland and Island Planning Commissions voted to recommend denial of an amendment to the Animal Control ordinance that would increase the number of cats and dogs allowed in a single residence from 3 to 6. The amendment was proposed to allow people to foster animals in their homes while waiting to be adopted. The planners felt that the amendment could be misused and potentially create inhumane conditions for animals as well as unpleasant situations for neighbors.
