Republic Services announced Wednesday that it is withdrawing its three applications for permits that would have allowed the solid waste company to bury thousands of tons of coal ash per day at its Broadhurst Landfill in Wayne County. In a prepared statement Broadhurst said it was announcing its “latest good neighbor plans.” A spokesman said the company withdrew the permits without any promise of getting anything in return.
