Jekyll Square Gets Facelift

Brunswick’s Signature Squares, with the help of volunteers, added new landscaping to Jekyll Square in downtown Brunswick on Friday. According to Signature Squares executive director Julie Martin, who is also a City Commissioner, plants were used that might have been here during the time the squares were designed and laid out. The large oak that once stood as the centerpiece of the square in the 1400 block of Newcastle was removed last year when it was determined to be dying. It was replaced with 20 foot tall oak tree with an 8 inch diameter trunk.
