Police: Dr.Nelson Was the Killer

Glynn County Police issued a statement today in conjunction with their investigation into the murder-suicide involving Catherine Tortorete and Dr. William Nelson at his clinic on St. Simons. They have concluded that Nelson killed Ms. Totorete and then himself.


The police statement is below:


At 5:46 p.m. on March 6th officers responded to 284 Redfern Village on St. Simons Island in reference to a 911 call about a death investigation at the St. Simons Island Clinic. When officers arrived, they entered the Clinic and found two deceased persons inside. The deceased were identified as Dr. William Nelson, age 63, and Catherine Tortorete, age 51, both of St. Simons Island. Both died from gunshot wounds. The preliminary investigation revealed the case to be a murder-suicide.

Subsequent investigation substantiates that Dr. William Nelson murdered Catherine Tortorete and then committed suicide.
