The County’s mainland and Island planning commissions reviewed proposed changes to the County tree ordinance this week that included a new system for determining how much space to keep open for trees when developing a piece of property; preserving specific trees; a new review process for tree plans and penalties for violating the ordinance. If approved the amendment will not apply to residential lots of less than one acre. Two public hearings will be held before the amendment is put to a vote by the county commission.
