With one member absent Tuesday night, the Island Planning Commission was split 3-3 on a preliminary plat for a new 245 lot subdivision off Lawrence Rd. on the north end of the island. The property’s ‘cultural resources,’ which reportedly include a family cemetery dating back to when the property was a plantation, were not delineated plat, which is a requirement. A motion was made to approve the plat with the condition the cemetery and other historic areas be delineated, but the vote failed on the split 3 to 3. The developer’s option is to resubmit the plat for a future meeting.
