Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering confirmed that an explosion preceded a fire which completely destroyed a fifth-wheel camper located on Greenswamp Road and Holly St. Circle in Sterling yesterday afternoon. Doering said police are treating it as a crime scene because of the potential of a chemical explosion. It is thought that one person, possibly a baby, was killed in the fire. Another baby was helicoptered from the scene with severe burns. Doering said the police had been called to the property in the past but declined to say why. The Brunswick Glynn Narcotics Enforcement Team was also at the scene. The investigation is on-going.
