During their Facilities Committee meeting yesterday afternoon, the Glynn County Board of Education decided to move forward with building the Altama Elementary replacement school on the current site behind the existing school building. The board met with the community Tuesday and the sentiment was to keep the school at the current site. The board feels they have done enough evironmental testing and will move forward with getting site approval from the Georgia Department of Education. A small amount of wetlands will have to be mitigated. The site is expected to be voted on during the school board’s next regular meeting on Tuesday, April 10.
