From Brunswick Police:
On December 14, 2019 at approximately 8:30 pm, officers responded to a shots fired call in the area of MLK Jr. Blvd and F Street. Upon officers arrival it was determined that the victim Marco Cruz, a 34 year Hispanic malehad been shot.Emergency medical services responded to this location in order to render medical aid. Mr. Marco Cruz was later transported to UF Health Jacksonville via helicopter. Mr. Marco Cruz remains in critical condition at this time.
Detectives with the Brunswick Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division responded to investigate. Detectiveswere able to determine that the victim was robbed at gun point while walking from a local store, by two unknown suspects at this time.This investigation is ongoing. On December 15, 2019 at approximately 4:20 am officersresponded to 4510AltamaAvenue in reference a call of shots firedattheWaffle House. Upon arrival law enforcementofficers wereable to determine that a physical altercation had taken place between two males. One of the males died as a result of the altercation, while the other male fled the scene.Daryl FredrickJr, 30 was transported to Southeast Georgia Health Systems (Brunswick campus) where helater succumbed.
