GA Power: Causeway Work Proceeding Faster than Anticipated

According to Georgia Power spokesman John Kraft, the line repairs on St. Simons Island and the Torras Causeway will continue through mid to late May. Kraft said faster progress was made this past weekend than had been expected. Drivers need to continue to anticipate delays coming off St. Simons Island. West bound traffic was backed up for almost the entire length of the causeway yesterday afternoon due to the shift into one lane at the end of the Brunswick end of the Causeway. Use of a helicopter in the repairs helps keep heavy equipment off the side of the roads and out of the marsh and speeds up the repair work. It also has less impact on traffic, according to Kraft.
